Windber Fire Department is identified as Station 611 under the communications system operated by Somerset 911 and is alerted by means of personal pagers for firefighters and in-station alarm bells. The WFD utilizes the county VHF low-band radio system as well as its own VHF high-band radio system.
Mission
As first responders to fires, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, public safety, medical emergencies, natural disasters and terrorist acts, The Windber Fire Department protects the lives and property of residents and visitors to Windber Borough, Paint Township, and Ogle Township. The Department advances public safety through its fire prevention, investigation and education programs. The timely delivery of these services enables the Windber Fire Department to make significant contributions to the safety of Windber Borough, Paint Township, and Ogle Township.
