The Windber Recreation Park serves as the major source of recreation to Windber Borough and the outlying communities. The Recreation Park is located within Borough limits and is owned by the Borough of Windber, and operated by the Windber Municipal Authority. The geographic location of the Park enables it to offer recreation facilities to not only Windber borough, but also Paint Borough, Scalp Level Borough, Paint Township, Ogle Township, Richland Township and Johnstown (a Third Class City.) The anticipated population served by the this facility is 60,000 people. The recreational facilities of this park also include a public swimming pool which has easy access to Route 160, Route 56, and Route 219. The pool features a 148 ft. serpentine slide, 2 shotgun slides, a baby pool and concession stand. There are other public facilities available at no charge such as picnic tables, barbecue pits, tennis courts, roller hockey, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball areas, softball field, a 1.2 mile nature trail, and restrooms. Available for rental is an open-air ballroom, complete with kitchen facilities and restrooms; and 6 various sized picnic pavilions.
