Windber Borough is exceptionally proud of their police department. The Windber Borough Police Department was established in 1901 and continues to serve the area with distinction. The department currently has two full time officers, one of which is a dedicated school resource officer. There are an additional fifteen part time officers and one civilian staff member. We are proud of the fact that we are active in the County Drug Task Force and employ an outstanding criminal investigator. Windber is one of only two boroughs in Somerset County that provide true twenty-four hour police protection. The department services not only Windber Borough, but Scalp Level and Paint Boroughs as well.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week you will see our black and white patrol cars on the move emblazoned with their motto “committed to the community”.
